Ranked fashion gives outfit sharing a competitive format. On Swathe, you style a real look for a daily prompt, post a photo, and receive star ratings from the community. Those ratings feed the fashion leaderboards, so each edition becomes a chance to see how people respond to your style.
How outfit ranking works on Swathe
Start with the daily styling prompt and post your outfit for that edition. Other people rate the look with stars, and your score changes as ratings arrive. Rate five outfits yourself to reveal the crowd score on your own fit.
Swathe has daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time boards. A daily edition gives you a shared theme to work with and a place to discover how other people interpreted it. The longer-term boards add another way to follow the community.
A crowd score reflects the people rating a look. Treat it as a response to that outfit in that context, rather than a universal verdict on your taste. A new prompt is a reason to try another idea.
What to look for when you rate a fit
A useful outfit rating pays attention to the choices someone made. Give unfamiliar styles the same consideration you give your favorites. These are suggestions for thoughtful voting, not a description of a scoring formula.
- Theme: can you see how the outfit responds to the daily prompt? A subtle interpretation can work as well as a literal one.
- Proportion: look at how the lengths and shapes work together, from the outer layer to the shoes.
- Color and texture: notice the combination of tones, materials, and details across the whole look.
- Creativity: give familiar clothes styled in an unexpected way a fair chance.
- Respect: judge the outfit. Keep body shape, identity, and assumptions about someone's budget out of the score.
Use the challenge to develop your style
Try changing one thing at a time. If you like a jacket-and-trousers combination, experiment with a shorter layer underneath or a different shoe shape. Photograph both versions and compare the proportions before choosing the one you want to post.
Look closely at outfits you rate highly. Is it the way the colors repeat, the contrast between a loose top and a narrow trouser, or one accessory that pulls the look together? Borrow the styling idea and adapt it to your own wardrobe.
There is no outfit formula that guarantees a top rank. The useful part of a daily challenge is having a specific brief and another reason to explore your clothes.
Outfit scores, shopping points, and access
Leaderboard scores and Swathe Points serve different purposes. Community ratings rank outfits. Shopping activity earns points: you earn them when someone purchases through your tagged fit, and when you buy through another person's look. Points can be used toward clothes on Swathe.
Swathe is currently available by invitation for people aged 18 and over. Posting and rating take place in the app. You can blur your face before upload if you want the photo to focus on your outfit.
