How Swathe works

THE OUTFIT NOTEBOOK

Seven days. Seven outfit ideas.

A daily outfit challenge gives you a small styling problem to solve. Start with one theme, put together a look from your closet, and see what happens when you change a color, texture, or proportion. These seven prompts are ideas to try yourself or with friends; they are not Swathe's live edition schedule.

A week of fashion challenge themes

Use these in order or pick the prompt that fits your day. Repeat pieces across the week and let the styling do the work.

  1. Monday — Monochrome. Choose one color family and combine different shades. A charcoal knit with gray trousers is a simple start; change the textures to keep the look interesting.
  2. Tuesday — One statement piece. Build around a jacket, bag, or pair of shoes you love. Keep the surrounding pieces simple enough that the focal point is easy to see.
  3. Wednesday — Off-duty layers. Try an open shirt over a tee, or a light jacket over a knit. Compare the hems and sleeve lengths to find a proportion you like.
  4. Thursday — High-low dressing. Pair a more formal piece with something relaxed: tailored trousers with a tee, or a blazer with denim. Choose shoes that make the mix feel intentional.
  5. Friday — Color echo. Repeat one small color in two places, such as socks and a shirt detail. Keep the rest of the palette restrained so the connection is visible.
  6. Saturday — Texture study. Combine materials that feel different, such as denim, cotton, or a soft knit. Use a close color palette to make the texture the main event.
  7. Sunday — One piece, restyled. Bring back something you wore earlier in the week. Change the silhouette, layer, or accessories and compare how different the same item can feel.

Take a fit-check photo that shows the outfit

Use even light and a background that lets the clothes stand out. Leave enough space in the frame to show your shoes and the full outline of the look. Check that a mirror, phone, or hand is not hiding the detail you want people to notice.

Before sharing a photo, look for personal details in the background and decide whether you want your face visible. Swathe includes an on-device face-blur step with controls you can adjust before posting.

Turn outfit inspiration into a shared challenge

With friends, agree on one prompt and give everyone time to style a look. When you compare outfits, explain which choices caught your attention. Specific feedback, such as noticing a repeated color or an unexpected layer, is more useful than deciding that one style is always best.

In Swathe, follow the current daily prompt in the app. Post your real outfit, rate other looks with stars, and see how the crowd responds. Five ratings reveal your own crowd score, and ratings feed the leaderboards. Swathe is invite-only for ages 18 and over.

Keep the challenge small enough to enjoy. A new combination of clothes you already wear can be just as interesting as an entirely different look.
